Why a College Education is Important
A lot of high school students don’t think about college until they are in their last year of school. Parents tend to scramble at the last minute to get financial aid, grant and scholarship information when this should have been done the previous year. It takes about a year to prepare for college entrance because there is so much paperwork and competition. Many people don’t want to face the daunting tasks associated with college and wait until the last minute. College is important, but yet can be overwhelming to many. There are so many fears and anxiety in the minds of both parent and child. The big picture, though, should be the benefits of a college education.
High school students worry about leaving their valued friends. Parents worry about the separation from their children. The good news, in all of this, is that as soon as the child arrives at college and gets settled in; the child will find other students who have similar interests. This is part of meeting new people and understanding what to expect from the world at large. The college experience prepares student and parent in more ways than one.
